In hearty response to his New Year Address, scientists of the Academy of Agricultural Science in the DPRK are putting spurs to attaining the main target of scientific research from the outset of the year.

The academy has introduced high-yielding strains of paddy rice and maize whose advantages have already been proved in practice into farms on a large scale and strived to realize the scientific farming methods, including the technologies for cultivating big rice seedlings and sparse planting culture.

It concentrates its efforts on breeding high-yielding strain resistant to high temperature, drought, cold-weather damage and harmful insects and pushes ahead with a research for providing a foundation of developing detail agricultural technique.

Big efforts have also been directed to realizing the local production of fertilizers, insecticides and germicides, indispensable for making nutritive liquid for potato.

The academy accelerates the research into introducing the cultivation technique for guaranteeing the production of more than 50 tons of apples per hectare into the fruit farms across the country.

It also channel efforts into solving sci-tech problems arising in establishing the process system capable of producing colloidal seed-covering materials, multi-nutrients for rice seedbeds and bio-insecticides in industrial way.
