Sweating in Stone-bathroom, Local Intangible Heritage in DPRK
Pyongyang, January 16 (KCNA) -- From ancient times, the wise and gifted Korean people created advantageous Koryo therapies based on rich resources of the country.

Among them is sweating in stone-bathroom handed down long in Kaesong area.

It is a sweating remedy in arch-style crucible piled with loess and granite.

It is derived from a folk tale that porcelain makers in a crucible of a ceramic baking site in Kaesong in the period of Koryo Kingdom cured various diseases after sweating in a warm crucible and jumping into small stream water.

It helps eliminate the harmful poisonous matters from body through sweat and promote the circulation of blood and functions of various internal organs. It is also efficacious for arthritis, obesity and dermatosis.

In particular, mineral matter and anion are included in steam.

Sweating in stone-bathroom registered as a local intangible heritage is popular among the people in Kaesong.
