The university has developed into a pedigree establishment for training scientists and a prestigious scientific research center under the loving care of President Kim Il Sung, leader Kim Jong Il and respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.

Kim Il Sung initiated the founding of the university and gave precious instructions for drawing up its curriculums and the distribution of graduates.

Kim Jong Il showed particular loving care for the teachers, researchers and students and took measures for providing material and technical foundations.

Kim Jong Un has led the university to fully discharge its mission and duty as a pedigree establishment for training scientists and a prestigious scientific research center.

The university has turned into a prestigious scientific research group with more than 600 academic degree holders including people's scientists, merited scientists, candidate academicians, professors and doctors and hundreds of winners of the title of October 8 Model Professor.

Tens of scientists were awarded Order of Kim Il Sung, Order of Kim Jong Il, Kim Jong Il Prize and the titles of twice DPRK hero and DPRK hero and labor hero as they made distinguished scientific and technological achievements while working at major scientific research institutions of the country after the graduating the university. It produced a student honored with master's degree, the first of its kind in Korea, and prestigious scientists of the international mathematics and physics circles and a young member of the World Academy of Sciences.

In recent ten years alone, it has developed hundreds of new subjects and put the contents of education on a practical, comprehensive and modern basis.

It made a great contribution to the country's science, technology and economic development and the improvement of the people's living standard by registering more than 3,000 sci-tech achievements which are of the state's significance.

The scientists and educators of the university are now concentrating their efforts on science and education with the ambition for taking the lead in realizing the Workers' Party of Korea's idea of building a sci-tech power and a talented nation this year, a year of science and education.
