DPRK Intensifies Hygienic and Anti-Epidemic Work
Pyongyang, January 18 (KCNA) -- Big efforts are being directed to the hygienic and anti-epidemic work in the DPRK which regards it as the main duty of the medical science to prevent diseases and promote the health.

During the 70-day campaign and the 200-day campaign last year, the country meticulously organized the work to prevent infectious diseases and watch environment and pollution and ensure the hygienic safety of spring water.

Medical workers of the Pyongyang Medical College Hospital of Kim Il Sung University, the Kim Man Yu Hospital, the Academy of Koryo Medicine, the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital, the Okryu Children's Hospital, the Ryugyong Dental Hospital and other national hospitals and provincial people's hospitals conducted hygienic information activities among inhabitants in an effective way.

Thorough quarantine and medical inspection were made for those entering the DPRK in order to prevent the infection of Zika virus rapidly spread worldwide last year, in particular.

"Kumsugangsan 3.1", program for monitoring environment, was developed, making it possible to analyze air pollution and assessment of estimation and data on measurement and take necessary measures.

In hearty response to respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un's New Year Address that all the fronts in the sector of culture should effect a new, revolutionary upsurge to accelerate the building of a civilized power, medical workers of the country are fully determined to thoroughly carry out the Workers' Party of Korea's policy on preventive medicine by further intensifying the hygienic and anti-epidemic work this year, too.
