Damian Ogbonna, co-chairman of the International Preparatory Committee for 2017 Meeting Praising Great Persons of Mt Paektu, chairman of the African Regional Committee of Friendship and Solidarity with the Korean People and national chairman of the People's Progressive Party of Nigeria, was elected chairman of the above-said preparatory committee.

The committee decided to hold various political and cultural events praising the exploits of Kim Jong Il and respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un and supporting the Korean army and people's righteous cause for the sovereignty of the country.
