S. Korean Organizations Urge U.S. to Opt for Ensuring Peace on Korean Peninsula
Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- 25 organizations of south Korea, including the South Headquarters of the Pan-National Alliance for Korea's Reunification and the Confederation of Trade Unions, reportedly held a press conference outside the U.S. embassy in Seoul on Jan. 18 at which they issued a protest letter demanding the U.S. opt for ensuring peace on the Korean peninsula.

The letter said that the most important issue in the fields of the U.S. diplomacy and security is the Korean issue, but its preceding presidents failed to properly solve it.

The U.S. should draw a lesson from their failures and make a bold decision to make a switchover in its policy favorable for peace, reunification and dialogue suited to the circumstances of the new era on the peninsula, it said

It called for concluding the DPRK-U.S. peace treaty, totally stopping the joint military drills, withdrawing the U.S. forces, dissolving the "UN Command", abrogating the unequal "mutual defense treaty" and SOFA, fully opening to media U.S. nuclear weapons deployed in south Korea and retracting the decision on THAAD deployment.

At the end of the conference, the organizations handed the protest letter to the U.S. embassy.
