Ibrahim Mantu, member of the Credit Committee of the People's Democratic Party of Nigeria and chairman of the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Association, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The committee decided to organize political and cultural events such as a meeting and film show for praising the revolutionary career and exploits of leader Kim Jong Il and to give wide publicity to the successes made by the army and people of the DPRK in defending the country's sovereignty and building a socialist power on this anniversary.
