KCNA Commentary Demands Pullback of U.S. Forces from S. Korea

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- Strong voices calling for the pullback of the U.S. forces from south Korea are heard from the U.S. Shortly ago, an American expert on Korean affairs said that south Korea is loudmouthed about the "blood relations" with the U.S., but the latter handles the issue of the Korean peninsula within the framework of its world strategy. He asserted the U.S. should pull back its forces from south Korea, not wasting military expenses on the Korean peninsula in which it is not vitally interested as their presence there does not bring any profit to it. The expert warned that if the U.S. seeks to put the DPRK under its control, it will entail "horrible consequences." This amounts to admitting that the U.S. forces' presence is nothing beneficial to both Korea and the U.S. The U.S. forces' occupation of south Korea was illegal from its start as they landed there quite contrary to the will and wishes of the Korean nation. Therefore, it was aimed at swallowing up the whole of Korea and dominating Asia. The U.S. occupied south Korea under the pretext of "disarming" the Japanese imperialists to meet its aggressive interests in the middle of the last century, bisecting the nation and territory into two parts. Owing to the U.S. forces' occupation of south Korea the Koreans have suffered unimaginable misfortune and pain and horrible tragedies are taking place there even at this moment. Their ceaseless drills for a nuclear war have turned the Korean peninsula and region into the biggest hotspot in the world. The withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea is indispensable prerequisite to achieving the reunification of the Korean nation, peace and security in the region and the demand of mankind which was reflected in the resolution adopted at the 30th UN General Assembly. The U.S. forces' presence in south Korea is not in line with the realistic interests of the U.S. It is of criminal and anachronistic nature in the light of the demands of the Korean nation and the international community and the changed strategic structure in Northeast Asia and is nothing beneficial to the American empire either. The U.S. would be well advised to properly face up to the trend of the times and make a decision to pull its forces from south Korea as early as possible. |
