According to the AFC's timetable, the DPRK team will compete with Indian team on April 3, Hong Kong of China on April 5, south Korean on April 7 and Uzbekistani on April 9. Preliminaries for qualification are to be held divided into 4 groups and only 8 teams including 4 winners from every group can take part in the AFC Women's Asian Cup slated for April 2018 in Jordan.

The DPRK team won the Asian trophy in 2001, 2003 and 2008. It also took the first place for 3 times in the women's football event of the Asian Games and won two consecutive victories in the EAFF Women's East Asia Cup.

It is expected that the DPRK team will have home-and-away matches as part of its preparation for qualification.
