A kick-off ceremony took place before the Monument to the Victorious Battle of Pochonbo on Saturday.

The participants laid floral baskets and bouquets before the statues of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il in Hyesan City and the statue of the President at the monument and paid tribute to them.

A report and speeches were at the ceremony.

They called on the GFTUK officials and members to prepare themselves to be strongest in idea and faith and the spirit of self-reliance and self-development by cherishing the revolutionary spirit of Paektu, the spirit of the blizzards of Paektu through the tour.

They pledged to learn from the spirit of self-reliance, revolutionary optimism, patriotism and comradeship displayed by the anti-Japanese forerunners and thoroughly embody them in the on-going struggle for raising the hot wind of uninterrupted offensive and innovations in the spirit of Kangwon Province.

At the end of the ceremony they looked round the monument.
