President Kim Il Sung founded the studio on February 6, Juche 36 (1947) and clearly indicated the mission and duty of cinematic art and orientation of filming in each period and at each stage of the developing revolution and wisely led it to create revolutionary and popular films.

Leader Kim Jong Il had worked heart and soul for the development of cinematic art since his first visit to the studio.

The campaign for bringing a turn in film-making is getting brisk at the studio under the deep care of respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un who is carrying forward the great leaders' Juche-based idea on literature and arts and high intention.

A meeting was held on Sunday to mark the 70th anniversary of the Studio, with the attendance of Kim Ki Nam, vice-chairman of the C.C., Workers' Party of Korea, Pak Chun Nam, minister of Culture, officials of the Studio and relevant units and creators and artistes.
