Pyongyang, February 6 (KCNA) -- This year will mark the 85th founding anniversary of the Korean People's Army (KPA). On this occasion, the DPRK people are recalling with deep emotion the immortal exploits President Kim Il Sung performed in founding the KPA and strengthening it into an invincible regular army. On the basis of army-building experience and tradition gained in the period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle, Kim Il Sung developed the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) into the KPA within two and a half years after the country's liberation from Japan's colonial rule and declared its foundation to the world on February 8, Juche 37 (1948). Thanks to the foundation of the regular revolutionary armed forces with all services and arms, the DPRK could have won victory after victory. Juche-oriented System for Training Backbones of Regular Army He directed primary attention to setting up bases for training military and political cadres and to training the backbone of regular army. In November 1945, he personally chose a site for the Pyongyang Institute in the then Jiul-ri, Ryonggang County, South Phyongan Province and gave precious instructions arising in establishing the institute. Under his energetic guidance, the Pyongyang Institute came into being as a model base for training military and political cadres for the first time in Korea within three months after the country's liberation. The President became the honorary president of the institute and gave the first lecture in January 1946. He also attended the opening ceremony of the institute and delivered a congratulatory speech in February. He took measures to set up the Central Security Officers Training School to train military cadres of all branches of arms and services. He also saw to it that the Marine Security Officers Training School in July 1947 was established to train a number of naval cadres well versed in navigation, engine, naval artillery and other expert skills. Juche-based military regulations, training manuals and teaching programs were set at newly established institutions to give Korean-style military and political education and conduct combat drills. Under the warm care of the President, many military and political graduates from those training bases came to be hard core elements of all services and arms of KPA. |
