Meetings with War Heroes Held in DPRK

Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- Working people's organizations of the DPRK held meetings with heroes on Tuesday to observe the historic day February 8, Juche 37 (1948) when President Kim Il Sung developed the Korean People's Revolutionary Army into regular armed forces under the independent line of army building after Korea's liberation. Workers and members of trade unions met with DPRK Hero Kim Sung Un, a lecturer of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, at the Central Hall of Workers. Kim recalled that Kim Il Sung initiated the aircraft-hunting team movement during the Fatherland Liberation War and taught soldiers of the Korean People's Army good methods of hunting enemy aircraft, encouraging them to perform feats. He said he was honored to receive the title of DPRK Hero for shooting down five enemy aircraft in 20 odd days through the movement. Agricultural workers and members of the agricultural workers union met with DPRK Hero Pak In Ho, a lecturer of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, at the Phungjong Co-op Farm in Jungsan County of South Phyongan Province. Pak told that KPA soldiers captured in just 14 minutes the U.S. armed spy ship Pueblo engrossed in arrogant espionage and its crewmen. At the meeting with officials and members of the women's union in the Hall of Women, Labor Hero Jon Ku Gang, a lecturer of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, told how she grew up to be an army surgeon from a girl student and worked to save lives of soldiers during the war. |
