Phyongchon Revolutionary Site, Native Place of Songun Arms
Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- The Phyongchon Revolutionary Site in Pyongyang is regarded as the native place of the Songun (military-first) arms in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The site is associated with the leadership exploits the peerlessly great persons of Mt. Paektu performed in building the self-reliant defence industry of the country.

President Kim Il Sung put forward the building of a powerful regular army as a prerequisite to the construction of an independent and sovereign state. He personally walked round the Phyongchon plain in October Juche 34 (1945) to choose a site for the first munitions factory.

When workers of the factory produced submachine gun by their own efforts, he visited the factory on December 12, 1948 to test-fire it.

On June 16, 1949, he visited the factory again together with anti-Japanese war heroine Kim Jong Suk and young Kim Jong Il.

In December 2015, respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un visited the remodeled Phyongchon Revolutionary Site and said that the historic gun report made by the President at the site turned the DPRK into a powerful nuclear weapons state ready to detonate self-reliant A-bomb and H-bomb to reliably defend its sovereignty and the dignity of the nation, adding that the site is just a native place of the Songun arms.
