Wooden Bridge Remains of Koguryo Kingdom
Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- There are remains of a wooden bridge, dating back to Koguryo Kingdom (B.C. 277-A.D. 668), in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK. The bridge, built across the River Taedong, was one of the world's biggest bridges early in the 5th century.

It was nearly 375 meters long and about 9 meters wide.

According to a reconstruction picture of the bridge, both of its entrances took a shape of fan tightly covered with boards. Beams were laid lengthways and breadthways on the framework of the bridge and paved with trim planks upon which parapets were fixed planks for safety.

And all the joints of the framework were rebated without using hardware like clamp.

There was a campfire site at the entrance of the bridge to light way.

The bridge shows well the high wooden architecture of Koguryo people.
