The prize is to be conferred on creators and artistes in the field of art and literature.

Some days ago, the Central Committee of the General Federation of the Unions of Art and Literature of Korea awarded the prize to Pae Ok Ju, a composer of the National Folk Art Troupe, and Choe Son Hui, an artist of the Mansudae Art Studio, for their achievements made in Juche 105 (2016).

Pae created the theme song of music and dance story "Life Story of Youth" and melody of "Marching Song of Heroic Youth of Mt. Paektu".

Choe created fine-art works "For the Expansion of 'DIU' (Down-with-Imperialism Union)", "To Kindle the Flames of Great Upswing" and "The Happiest Day", all of which vividly represent the immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il to deeply impress people.
