21st Kimjongilia Festival Opens
Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- The 21st Kimjongilia Festival opened with due ceremony at the Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Exhibition here Tuesday to mark the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il.

Its theme is "Kimjongilia in full bloom wishing for eternal prosperity of the era of Kim Jong Un".

On show at the venue of the festival are tens of thousands of potted Kimjongilias cultivated by more than 80 units, including armed forces organs, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons, civilians from all walks of life and school youth and children.

Also on display are flowers presented by overseas compatriots' organizations including the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), overseas compatriots, diplomatic missions of various countries and international bodies here, friendship and solidarity organizations of and personages of different countries and Korea-resident Chinese.

Present at the opening ceremony were Kim Ki Nam, vice-chairman of the C.C., Workers' Party of Korea, Ri Ryong Nam, vice-premier of the Cabinet, and officials of the festival organizing committee and the units which presented flowers to the festival.

Also, attending it were a congratulatory group of Koreans in Japan for celebrating the Day of the Shining Star led by Ri Ki Sok, advisor to the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, and other overseas compatriots' delegations, members of the associations for disseminating the immortal flower and foreign guests.

Kim Chang Do, chairman of the Korea Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Committee, made an opening address.
