S. Korean Authorities' Mud-slinging Cannot Be Justified in Any Case: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, February 15 (KCNA) -- All sorts of smear campaigns rattling the nerves of the other side and inciting confrontation cannot be justified under any circumstances. Rodong Sinmun on Wednesday says this in an article. Mud-slinging should be stopped, to begin with, in order to improve the north-south relations, the article says, and goes on: The relations between Pyongyang and Seoul are at the lowest ebb in history. The relations are so tense that the situation has reached the brink of a war after going beyond the state of suffocation. It was created by all sorts of mud-slinging. Mud-slinging is the root cause of the catastrophe of the north-south relations as it is a revelation of repugnancy and hostility toward the fellow countrymen. Hurling mud at the other side with lies only to serve a sinister political purpose is a stumbling block lying in the way of achieving national reconciliation and unity and mending the north-south relations. There live in the north and the south compatriots with the same language. Though the differing ideologies and social systems exist in the north and the south due to the national division caused by foreign forces, they cannot be a ground for the compatriots to mistrust and antagonize each other. The north-south relations can never be repaired if the smear campaign is allowed to go on, not recognizing each other's ideology and social system but antagonizing each other. The ceaseless mud-slinging would only lead to a military conflict and war. Neither north-south relations can improve nor peace and reunification of the country be achieved unless the smear campaign creating antagonism and discord among compatriots is halted. This is a serious lesson taught by the stern history of the national reunification movement. |
