Day of Shining Star Observed Abroad
Pyongyang, February 21 (KCNA) -- Such events as meeting, seminar, lecture, reading session and photo and book exhibition took place in Finland, Denmark and Iceland between Jan. 27 and Feb. 10 to mark the Day of the Shining Star, the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il.

On display at their venues were photos showing the revolutionary careers and exploits of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and photos introducing the revolutionary activities of respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.

There were also books and photos showing the efforts of the Korean army and people.

The participants in the events presented bouquets before the portraits of smiling Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

The chairman of the Finnish Communists' League said that Kim Jong Il is a great statesman who made significant contributions to the Korean revolution and the cause of global independence and a prominent leader who devoted his all to the development of the Workers' Party of Korea and the victorious advance of the socialist cause.

The chairman of the Finnish National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea and the chairman of the Finland-Korea Society recalled that Kim Jong Il confirmed the validity of the socialist cause and the inevitability of its victory through his energetic ideo-theoretical activities and reliably defended the country's sovereignty and dignity with his unique Songun politics.

The chairman of the Denmark-DPRK Friendship Association said that Kim Jong Il's exploits for the times and history would shine forever.

The general secretary of the Iceland-DPRK Friendship and Cultural Society said that Kim Jong Il is always alive in the hearts of the world's progressive people for the titanic feats he performed for the Korean revolution and the human cause of independence.

Congratulatory messages to Kim Jong Un were adopted at the events in Finland and Iceland.
