21st Kimjongilia Festival Closes

Pyongyang, February 21 (KCNA) -- The 21st Kimjongilia Festival for celebrating the 75th birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il closed with due ceremony at the Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Exhibition on Tuesday. The festival venue, presenting charming scenery with tens of thousands of potted Kimjongilias, have been visited by officials of party, armed forces and power organs, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons, working people, school youths and children, overseas compatriots and foreigners, hundreds of thousands of people in all. At least 200,000 visitors toured it on February 16 and 17 alone. Present at the closing ceremony were Kim Ki Nam, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials of the festival organizing committee and units that presented flowers of the sun, working people and school youth and children in Pyongyang, a congratulatory group of Koreans in Japan and other overseas compatriots and members of the associations for disseminating and supporting the immortal flowers and foreigners. Certificates of the festival prize bearing the portrait of smiling leader Kim Jong Il were awarded to many units, officials, cultivators, individuals, the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, overseas compatriots and foreigners. The participation certificates were also conferred on the working people and school youth and children who presented the flowers to the festival. |
