Pyongyang, February 22 (KCNA) -- It has been 70 years since the People's Committee of North Korea was established under the guidance of President Kim Il Sung after the country's liberation from Japan's colonial rule. From the early years of his revolutionary activities, Kim Il Sung had regarded the issue of power as the fundamentals of the revolution and set forth the policy of building the people's power in consonance with the realities of guerilla zones and specific conditions of anti-Japanese armed struggle. In accordance with the policy, the people's revolutionary government, the first of its kind in the history of the working class for power-building, was established at all the guerrilla zones in the area along the River Tuman. On August 20, Juche 34 (1945), just five days after the country's liberation, he made public "Founding the Party, State and Armed Forces in the Liberated Homeland" and other famous works to indicate that the main orientation and goal in solving the issue of power is to build the democratic people's republic. The President saw to it that the popular masses set up local people's committees at all levels by their own efforts after abolishing the Japanese imperialists' colonial ruling mechanism and were equipped themselves with the line of nation building to lay a social foundation for building the power. On this basis, he established the Provisional People's Committee of North Korea and developed it into the People's Committee of North Korea through a democratic election in February 1947 after successfully carrying out the tasks of the anti-imperialist, anti-feudal democratic revolution like agrarian reform and nationalization of major industries. In September 1948, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, a unified government of Korea, was founded. |
