Pyongyang, February 24 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held at the People's Palace of Culture here on Friday to review the socialist emulation for increased production in the field of agriculture in 2016. Officials and other agricultural workers made dynamic efforts to overfulfill their plans for the production of grain, livestock, etc. last year. Grain production plans were overfulfilled by the Migok Co-op Farm in Sariwon City, the Sinam Co-op Farm in Ryongchon County, the Samjigang Co-op Farm in Jaeryong County, the Unhung Co-op Farm in Thaechon County and the Tongbong Co-op Farm in Hamju County. Dozens of units succeeded in boosting the per-hectare yield of grain through the socialist emulation for increased production among cities and counties widely known for rich harvest. Stock-breeding bases such as the Kanggye Pig Farm and the Hungju Chicken Farm increased the production of meat and eggs and Taedonggang and Kosan combined fruit farms and others hit their fruit production targets. Present at the meeting were Ri Chol Man, department director of the C.C., Workers' Party of Korea, Ko In Ho, vice-premier of the Cabinet and concurrently minister of Agriculture, officials of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea and officials and agricultural workers of those units which took part in the emulation. The standing was announced and citations and rotating silk banner were conferred upon the successful participants. The general outlines for the emulation for 2017 were made public at the meeting. |
