More than 1,078,000 people including members of organizations of various circles, residents, chiefs of local self-governing bodies, lawmakers of opposition parties took part in the struggle with candlelight in their hands under the sponsorship of the emergency people's action for the resignation of the Park Geun Hye regime.

A plenary rally took place at the Kwanghwamun Plaza in Seoul after over 800,000 Seoul citizens and masses of various circles from each region gathered.

At the end of the rally the participants waged demonstration march shouting slogans like "Impeach Park Geun Hye".

Similar rallies were held across south Korea.

Many south Korean media such as Newsis and Media Today reported the actions as breaking news.
