The joint agreement said that March 1, 1919 was a historic day when the Korean nation turned out and staged a patriotic resistance against Japan to retake the sovereignty of the country usurped by the Japanese imperialists.

The March First uprising was a massive one which demonstrated the spirit of independence of the Korean nation to stand against the outsiders' colonial domination and tyrannical rule and its indomitable will and stamina to win back the independence of the country, it said, and went on:

It is nearly one century since the uprising, but the security and peace of the nation are still seriously threatened by outsiders.

The Korean nation faces an important task to firmly defend the peace of the Korean peninsula and the security of the nation and open up a broad avenue to improving the north-south relations through the concerted efforts of all its members by inheriting the spirit of national independence as was displayed during the days of the uprising.

Vowing to work with dedication to reject aggression-minded outsiders, defend the nation's independence and peace and usher in a new phase of national reunification, the Central Committee of the Christian Federation of Korea and the National Council of Christian Churches in south Korea express their will as follows on the 98th anniversary of the March First Popular Uprising:

1. The Christian Federation of Korea and the National Council of Christian Churches in south Korea will conduct a dynamic drive to wrest apology and reparation for all crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists against the Korean nation, including the crimes related to the sexual slavery, to put an immediate end to the visit to Yasukuni Shrine, the distortion of history, attempt at seizing Tok Islets, the revision of "Pacifist Constitution" and the bolstering of "Self-Defence Forces" and check Japan's militarist revival and reinvasion moves.

2. They will vehemently oppose all forms of war drills for aggression staged in collusion with outsiders and make all efforts for independence, peace and reunification of the nation.

3. They will conduct various solidarity activities for improving north-south relations and opening up a decisive phase for independent reunification by the concerted efforts of the nation and exert efforts for holding a meeting of north-south religionists at an early date as an immediate task so that the north and the south may jointly commemorate the 100th anniversary of the March First Popular Uprising.
