Pyongyang, March 2 (KCNA) -- DPRK newspapers Thursday dedicate editorials to the tree-planting day when President Kim Il Sung kindled the first torch of tree-planting campaign. On March 2, Juche 35 (1946) the President, together with leader Kim Jong Il and anti-Japanese war heroine Kim Jong Suk, mounted Moran Hill and mapped out a plan to turn the mountains of the country into the paradise for people in thick verdure. The DPRK observes the day as the tree-planting day. The tree-planting day is the day for conveying the patriotic feats of the peerlessly great persons of Mt Paektu and it serves as a significant occasion for implanting patriotism and love of the native land into the hearts of servicepersons and civilians, says Rodong Sinmun. It goes on: Afforestation and protection of forests in the DPRK where mountains make up the bulk of land are an important and responsible work to make the socialist country more prosperous and provide the people with highly civilized and beautiful living conditions and circumstances. The forest restoration is one of the important tasks in the five-year strategy set forth by the Workers' Party of Korea. The forest restoration campaign is a combat to conserve nature, a stand-off with imperialists and a campaign to defend socialism. And the sites for forest restoration are a theater for demonstrating the spirit of socialist Korea vigorously advancing by dint of ardor and wisdom of all the patriotic servicepersons and civilians. It is the steadfast determination and will of our Party to turn all mountains of the country into those of "gold and treasures" with green woods in the near years. The forest restoration campaign is an important political work to carry out the behests of the great leaders, and the greatest patriotic work for the prosperous development of the country and all generations to come, not economic and technical work to plant trees in mountains. Minju Joson calls upon all the people in the DPRK to turn out in the spring tree-planting and usher in a new history of "gold" mountains in the great era of Kim Jong Un. |
