Working People's Organizations Hold Meetings on Tree-planting Day

Pyongyang, March 2 (KCNA) -- A spring tree-planting campaign began in the DPRK on the occasion of the Tree-planting Day. In this regard, meetings of working people's organizations were held at the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Museum, the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace and the Central Tree Nursery of the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection and on Moran Hill on Thursday. Present there were Kim Yong Nam, Pak Pong Ju and other senior party and state officials, the chairman of a friendly party, officials of the Cabinet, working people's organizations, commissions, ministries and national institutions and working citizens from different walks of life and youth and students. Reports were made at the meetings to be followed by speeches. The reporters and speakers noted that President Kim Il Sung climbed Moran Hill on March 2, Juche 35 (1946) to take the lead in the tree-planting campaign and unroll a far-reaching plan for turning the country into thick woodland and greenery. Leader Kim Jong Il climbed Mt Jangja and personally planted two pine-nut trees in the days of the war and set a noble example of patriotism while providing the Songun revolutionary leadership, they stressed. They appealed to all officials and other working people to vigorously turn out in the work to plant more trees in hearty response to the call of respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un for the dynamic forest restoration campaign. At the end of the meetings, the participants planted trees and flower shrubs. |
