The band, which came into being and developed under the care of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il, is a revolutionary and militant art troupe.

Kim Il Sung personally founded the military band on March 6, Juche 36 (1947) and indicated the orientation and ways for the development of the band while guiding its performances several times.

Kim Jong Il paid attention to the work of the band and gave instructions to be held fast to in its creative activities including the matter of preserving the character as an art organization.

Over the past seven decades since its foundation, the military band has carried out its revolutionary duty as a militant art troupe spurring the advance of the era with dynamic revolutionary band music.

A meeting was held on Monday to mark the anniversary.
