In recent years, silk factories and the Pyongyang Silk J.V. Company in the DPRK have produced a large quantity of silk goods to make contribution to improving the standard of people's living.

The new silk goods are on sale at the Pyongyang Department Store No. 1, Silk Shop and other shops, enjoying great popularity.

Among them are Korean chima (skirt) and jogori (coat), Korean jacket and trousers, child's striped jacket, bedding and scarf made of over ten kinds of silk fabrics like polychromatic silk, colored silk and yaksan silk (a kind of figured satin).

When visiting the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Silk Mill in January, respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the mill is mass-producing different bedclothes including quilts for winter, summer, spring and autumn and wedding and bedcover with silk fabrics and silk cotton produced by the Nyongbyon Silk Mill and other light industrial factories of the country.
