Present there were Choe Thae Bok, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Ri Chung Gil, chairman of the State Science and Technology Commission who is chairman of the C.C., General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea, Kim Sung Du, chairman of the Education Commission, Jang Chol, president of the State Academy of Sciences, officials concerned, scientists, technicians and teachers.

Certificates of February 16 Science and Technology Prize and medals were conferred on 10-odd major projects and certificates of sci-tech innovation prize on three major projects.

More than 220 scientists, technicians, teachers and officials of the State Academy of Sciences, Capital City Construction Commission, Kim Il Sung University and other units received certificates of the prize.

Jong Il Chol of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Choe Kil Yong of the State Academy of Sciences, Jang Song Hun of Kim Il Sung University, Kim Sung Nam of the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex, Ri Mu Chol of Kim Chaek University of Technology and Om Ki Su of Kim Il Sung University were chosen as the best scientists and technicians in 2016.
