Stop to U.S.-S. Korea Joint Military Exercises Urged
Pyongyang, March 17 (KCNA) -- A British organization and a Belarusian personage issued statements on Mar. 4 and 5 to protest against the U.S.-south Korea joint military exercises.

The Staffordshire branch of the Korean Friendship Association UK in its statement exposed the danger of large-scale war games being staged by the U.S. and south Korea.

It said:

The DPRK has already put forward substantial proposals to ensure the peace on the Korean peninsula several times.

If the present U.S. administration has the intent to pursue a prudent diplomatic policy, it should halt the war games being waged on the Korean peninsula and in its vicinity and opt for opening dialogue with the DPRK.

We call on the progressive peoples to strongly demand a stop to the joint military exercises for aggression in order to ensure the global peace and security.

We also appeal to them to oppose war and extend support and solidarity to the cause of the Korean people for national reunification.

L. Shukolinikov, first secretary of the C.C., Communist Workers' Party of Belarus who is chairman of the Permanent Standing Committee of the Belarus National Association of Friends of Korean People Named after Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, said in his statement:

The situation prevailing on the peninsula shows that the U.S. and its vassal forces seek to mount a preemptive nuclear attack on the DPRK.

The U.S. is staging dangerous war games that can spill over into the world.

The international community should urge the U.S. to ink a peace accord with the DPRK and withdraw its forces from south Korea.
