DPRK Is Capable Enough to Counter Pressure: Russian Online Paper

Pyongyang, March 18 (KCNA) -- The Russian online paper Sputnik in a recent article commented on the test-fire of the ground to ground medium to long-range strategic ballistic rocket Pukguksong-2, the Korean-style new strategic weapon system. It recalled that the DPRK succeeded in the test-fire of the above-said rocket on Feb. 12, adding: The recent test-fire showed very interesting points in various aspects. First of all, the U.S. and its allies never predicted the test-fire. It is evidenced by the fact that experts of the U.S., Japan and south Korea expressed divergent opinions on the test-fire. Next, Pukguksong-2 is quite different from the missile system which the north Korean army has in place. A missile mounted on heavy caterpillar vehicle was launched without any preparations in the launching site. It moved to the launching position a few minutes before it was fired, giving U.S. spy satellites no chance to detect it. An analysis of the video footage of the test- fire shows that the launching pad had a defence system to counter the enemy attack. Judging from this, the north Korean army can launch missiles from any site, giving relatively little time to counter them. It has become more difficult to detect or analyze them. A missile using high-thrust solid-fuel engine is capable of disabling a missile defence system of the enemy through a single strike in a short distance flight. The tension on the Korean peninsula should not be escalated any longer. There are public opinions in the international community that the strategic status of the DPRK should be recognized, the paper noted, and went on: It is quite natural that pressure through sanctions can never work on a country which can develop an advanced missile system in a short span of time. The recent test-fire goes to prove that the DPRK has enough capability to counter the pressure on it. |
