Energy-saving Technologies Introduced
Pyongyang, March 18 (KCNA) -- The Chollima Steel Complex in the DPRK lowers the production cost of steel per ton by introducing energy-saving methods.

The steel output was increased year-on-year this year, but the production cost declined in the complex. In case of its steel shop, the power consumption was decreased 10 percent.

Officials and employees of the complex have made all their efforts to boost the production with lower cost by applying advanced technologies. As part of their efforts, many plans for technical innovation were developed to be conducive to minimizing heat loss at electric furnace and maximizing the turn-out of molten iron.

Particularly, the enlarged interior capacity of electric furnace makes it possible to produce several more tons of molten iron and a heating device based on pulverized coal was applied to the process of preheating steel-teeming ladle.
