World Water Day Observed in DPRK
Chongjin, March 22 (KCNA) -- A seminar was held in Chongjin City, North Hamgyong Province of the DPRK on Wednesday to mark World Water Day.

Present there were officials of relative units including the Ministry of Urban Management and the Grand People's Study House, working people in the city, and acting representative of the UNICEF and staff members of foreign embassies here.

Speakers said at the seminar that the DPRK government has made efforts to fully protect and rationally use and manage water resources.

They stressed that the seminar would provide a good occasion of raising the people's concern and understanding of water and waste water, further improving the water-supply system in the urban and rural villages and protecting water resources.

The participants watched a Korean science film "Gravity-fed Waterworks".

On the same day, there took place a ground-breaking ceremony of the gravitational waterworks to be built in Hoeryong City with the aid of UNICEF.
