L. Shukolinikov, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Workers' Party of Belarus and chairman of the Permanent Standing Committee of the Belarus National Association of Friends of Korean People Named after Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The preparatory committee decided to give wide publicity to the revolutionary career and feats of Kim Il Sung through media and hold diverse political and cultural events including a celebration meeting on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
