Chairman of the Headquarters Paek Sung Bae made a speech at the meeting.

He said that the national reunification is the way for the nation to live and it is the road of making a contribution to the world peace.

He underscored the need for the south and the north to hasten the national reunification by implementing the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 Declaration by concerted efforts, adding that the headquarters would continue waging a dynamic reunification movement including activities for successfully holding the pan-national conference this year, too.

The general meeting reviewed the work done last year when the headquarters conducted activities to support the proposal for opening the joint conference of political parties, organizations and personages in the north and the south and abroad for the peace and independent reunification of the Korean peninsula and voice solidarity with the reunification movement organizations and discussed the orientation of this year's work.

A statement was read out under the title of "Let's put an end to the south Korea-U.S. joint military drills and usher in a new day for the nation".

The statement said that the joint military drills staged by the south Korean and U.S. authorities were undisguised moves to ignite a nuclear war.
