Many catfish farms have been built in recent years.

The Samchon Catfish Farm has turned into a world-level large-scale fish farm in Samchon County, South Hwanghae Province. Samchon County is famous for hot springs.

The farm has 16 large catfish ponds. An integrated production system was established at the farm to measure and control the water temperature and oxygen content and to automatically adjust water supply and the amount of food.

The Pyongyang Catfish Farm has put catfish farming on a scientific, intensive and industrial basis at a higher level.

Jagang Province built 1 000 square meters of greenhouse-style catfish farms in cities and counties, and Hochon County of South Hamgyong Province 60,000 square meters of a catfish farm.

Tokchon City and Sinyang County, South Phyongan Province also built catfish farms.

Meanwhile, drives to set the catfish production capacity in a scientific way and build modern catfish farms are being pushed forward across the country. The work for realizing the local production of fish breeding facilities is also progressing apace. This proves the validity of the Workers' Party of Korea's policy of fish farming.
