Briefing on Situation Given for Diplomatic Envoys Here
Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- The Foreign Ministry of the DPRK Thursday gave a briefing for diplomatic representatives of different countries and international organizations here on the present acute situation prevailing in the Korean peninsula due to the aggressive joint military drills and hideous "special operation" by the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces.

Sin Hong Chol, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, referred to the present situation of the Korean peninsula and the DPRK's principled stand.

He stated that the U.S. and south Korean forces kicked off the joint military maneuvers with the largest-ever armed forces and all kinds of nuclear strategic assets involved, frantically conducting drills for "beheading operation" aimed at "removal of the headquarters" of a sovereign state and "special operation" mainly based on "preemptive strike" aimed to remove nuclear and rocket bases.

He also denounced the shameless moves of the U.S. to justify their joint military drills while viciously faulting the warning of a spokesman for the General Staff of the Korean People's Army with regard to the reckless "special operation".

It is the exercise of the DPRK's right to self-defence to counter the U.S. and south Korean forces' moves with its preemptive strike since the U.S. declared that they would remove the supreme headquarters and major strategic bases of the DPRK through "special operation", he said, and went on:

The present touch-and-go situation of the Korean peninsula clearly shows where all issues come from and that if a war breaks out on the Korean peninsula, the U.S. should be held whole accountable for it as it hurled huge nuclear strategic assets and special operation means, not content with its persistent hostile policy.

Expressing deep concern about the aggravating situation of the Korean peninsula, those diplomatic representatives noted that they came to have clear understanding of the essence of the present situation and the principled stand of the DPRK.
