Kim Jong Un was elected the first secretary of the WPK and the first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK at the Fourth Conference of the WPK and the 5th Session of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK in April, Juche 101 (2012). It was a political event of great significance and a revolutionary and great auspicious event in the development of the WPK and the struggle for the prosperity of Kim Il Sung's nation and Kim Jong Il's Korea, the papers say.

Holding in high esteem Kim Jong Un at the center of the unity and leadership at the crucial and historic juncture for carrying forward the revolutionary cause of Juche was the greatest honor, fortune and great strength of the WPK and the country, the army and people, notes Rodong Sinmun.
