Present there on invitation were Ri Su Yong, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and vice-chairman of the C.C., the WPK, Kim Yong Jae, minister of External Economic Relations who doubles as chairman of the DPRK-Syria Friendship Association, Thae Hyong Chol, president of Kim Il Sung University and minister of Higher Education, and officials concerned.

The ambassador said in his speech that the Day of the Sun is a historic day for the Korean people and the world progressives, adding that Kim Il Sung would be immortal as he performed the immortal exploits before the country and its people with his extraordinary leadership.

He stressed that the friendly relations provided by the preceding leaders of Syria and the DPRK are given steady continuity generation after generation and the just struggle of the two peoples for frustrating the aggressive moves of the imperialists including the U.S. imperialists and their vassal forces would be sure to triumph.

Ri Su Yong said that the President made a great contribution to the development of the friendly relations among the countries desirous of independence and justice including Syria and the accomplishment of the global cause of independence.

Saying that the historic and traditional friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries are growing stronger under the deep concern of respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un and President Bashar Al-Assad, he stressed that the Korean people would as ever invariably support the Syrian government and people in their just struggle.
