President Kim Il Sung saw to it that a fishery station that had been operated by South Phyonan Province was reorganized as state-run Nampho Fishery Station on April 20, Juche 36 (1947) and visited the station four times, setting forth a militant task for the station to come first in fish haul in the western coastal area and leading it to make great innovation.

Leader Kim Jong Il also visited the station, giving instructions to arm the fishermen with the revolutionary idea of the President, improve their cultural and emotional life and consolidate the material and technological foundation of the station.

For the past 70 years since its founding the station has made successes in its efforts to carry out the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea on fishery.
