Kang Pan Sok, Great Mother of Korea
Pyongyang, April 21 (KCNA) -- It has been 125 years since Kang Pan Sok, an indomitable revolutionary fighter and an outstanding leader of the Korean women's movement, was born.

On this occasion, the DPRK people recall with deep emotion the noble revolutionary life of Kang Pan Sok who brought up President Kim Il Sung and worked for his revolutionary cause.

Kim Il Sung in his reminiscences "With the Century" said:

"Her whole life served as a textbook for me in implanting in me a true view on life and on the revolution."

Her love for the President was not merely maternal affection, but great revolutionary devotion which had instilled into him that the loyalty to the country should always be ahead of filial duty.

Therefore, it was unforgettable for the President in his lifetime that she let him leave for Linjiang of China and pushed him off without allowing him even to stay for one night, when he returned home after making a 250-mile journey on foot at the age of thirteen in January Juche 14 (1925).

When he went to see her in sickbed in Xiaoshahe, she said that a man who has turned out with a determination to win back his country should think of his lost country and its people rather than worrying about household affairs and pushed him off to south Manchuria despite her lonely life in her sickbed.

Her words served as an unyielding will and faith which made him tide over all adversities during the anti-Japanese armed struggle.

With the will and faith, he achieved the historic cause of national liberation and built the Korean-style socialism centered on the popular masses.

Today the undying feats of Kang Pan Sok, who devoted her all to the country, the people and the revolution, are further glorified thanks to respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.
