Noting that carcinogenic substances much higher than the tolerance limits were found in underground water and soil of the military base, the editorial demanded that the regime open to the public the findings on the base's pollution and conduct a survey of the environmental condition in U.S. military bases across south Korea and that the U.S. take responsibility for the environmental rehabilitation.
