Speaking at Educational University of Cambodia on April 20, he said that there would be no war on the Korean peninsula and that the issue of the Korean peninsula is different in its nature from the U.S. military attack on Syria. If the U.S. mounts an attack on the DPRK, not only south Korea and Japan but also the U.S. mainland, geographically far from it, will suffer damage, he added.

He stressed that the UN Security Council should adopt any resolution with prudence for security on the Korean peninsula and those countries concerned should make efforts to settle the problem by peaceful means.
