In this regard, Kim Hong Bom, an official of its technological development section, told KCNA:

The dockyard established a new Korean-style coal gas-based generating system in close cooperation with the State Academy of Sciences and Kim Chaek University of Technology.

The university solved technical problems arising in setting up such process as making and drying briquette, removing dust from coal gas and desulfurizing it in a short span of time.

Researchers of the academy made a contribution to the establishment of the system by altering diesel-engine generator into gas-engine generator. And the dockyard built a gas generator and ensured its safety through trial run.
