Cuban Newspaper Criticizes U.S. and UN for Abusing Human Rights Issue

Pyongyang, April 29 (KCNA) -- The Cuban newspaper Granma recently carried an article criticizing the U.S. and the United Nations for abusing the human rights issue. The article termed the U.S. re-listing of Cuba, the DPRK and Iran as human rights abusers an act of deceiving the world public. Accusing the U.S. of making false propaganda against sovereign states and being hell-bent on aggression, bombing, murder and military occupation with lies and fabrications, it queried whether such acts can be viewed as "protection of human rights" and who should sit in the dock. The article went on: By abusing name of the UN Security Council, the U.S. is running the whole gamut of tricks to "punish" Cuba, the DPRK and Iran who have unyieldingly stood against its imperialist policies. It is keen on committing military invasion, plunder and human rights abuses against sovereign states. Prisoners are seriously tortured at its prison in Iraq and the prison at its Guantanamo naval base. U.S. forces used depleted uranium bombs to massacre civilians, which produced an army of handicapped people and deformed children in former Yugoslavia and Iraq. But the UN has neither disclosed and censured nor punished such human rights abuses committed by the U.S. Worse still, the UN Security Council is cracking down on the countries and personages standing against the imperialist policies, far from punishing those actually perpetrating human rights abuses, pursuant to the U.S. policy. Cuba and Iran are toughly resisting, not yielding to the imperialists' threats and blackmails, and the DPRK is squarely countering the U.S. moves of aggression. |
