Achievements Made in Putting Water Control on Scientific Basis
Pyongyang, May 2 (KCNA) -- Big efforts have been directed to putting water control on a scientific basis in the DPRK.

Technicians and researchers of the Taedonggang Barrage Management Bureau under the Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport and other units established a new flood control system for the Taedong River.

The new control system informs relevant headquarters of real-time data on water level behind dams built along the river and rainfall around them through local and mobile networks. And on this basis, the headquarters can forecast flood and take prompt measures by making the best option for water control.

The technicians and researchers established an integrated data transfer system ranging from headwaters of the river to its lower part.

Technicians of the Rural Economy Committee of North Phyongan Province and the Paekma-Cholsan Waterway Management Station applied a computer-aided control system to automatically opening and closing dozens of lock gates in the Paekma Lake.

Its application makes it possible to settle a water dearth in farming seasons and prevent flood damage in rainy season.
