Trump's "Gunboat Diplomacy" Can Not Work on DPRK

Pyongyang, May 11 (KCNA) -- Kim Pok Song, a researcher of the Disarmament Institute of the DPRK Institute for International Studies, made public a commentary titled "'Gunboat diplomacy' can never work" on May 11. The Trump administration, far from drawing a lesson from his predecessors' hostile policy toward the DPRK, puts unprecedented military pressure and blackmail on the DPRK, pushing the situation of the Korean peninsula to the brink of a war, the commentary says, and goes on: Trump's method of bluffing other countries with nuclear-powered carriers and submarines reminds one of the "gunboat diplomacy" which the imperialist powers used in the past to threaten the weak countries with guns and artillery pieces and then impose their brigandish demands. Of course, the U.S. made profit from this "gunboat" diplomacy employed to meet its ends of provoking a war of aggression and bringing into submission its rivals, with an exception of the DPRK. During the Caribbean crisis in October 1962, the U.S. attempted to invade Cuba with the use of 183 warships. In 1964 it sent warships first to create pretexts for invading North Vietnam with the use of Gulf of Tonkin incident. At the times of Gulf and Iraqi wars, the U.S. mobilized fleets to attain its aggression aims. It was only the DPRK on which the U.S. "gunboat diplomacy" did not work since the end of the Korean War. The reason why the "gunboat diplomacy" could not work on the DPRK was the invincible military capabilities for self-defence its army and people had built up under the guidance of their prominent leaders. The U.S. "gunboat diplomacy" was not effective on the DPRK in the past when it had no nuclear weapons. Now the DPRK is possessed of all including H-bomb. It is as clear as noonday that such "diplomacy" can never work on the DPRK. We send another warning to the Trump administration which puts on airs after firing a few missiles and dropping huge bombs on those exhausted and weakened countries. The U.S. should cool down its war hysteria and renounce the logic of strength, though belatedly, clearly understanding that its preemptive attack on the DPRK will incur unavoidable destruction. The DPRK, Songun Korea, will remain undeterred and always emerge victorious as it is led by the peerlessly illustrious commander and there are single-minded unity of the army and people around their leader and the nuclear deterrence for self-defence enough to strike and destroy any provokers wherever they may be on the earth. |
