Korean Woman in U.S. Demands U.S. President Ensure Peace on Korean Peninsula
Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- An Un Hui, Korean woman in the U.S., sent a letter to U.S. President Trump on April 26 calling for ensuring peace on the Korean peninsula on behalf of such women leaders as academics, business world, civic and social circles and military origin of 40 countries including the DPRK and those of countries which took part in the Korean War.

Diplomacy is the only way of defusing the danger of a nuclear war and that of a war prevailing on the peninsula, the letter said, adding:

Korea is the only country which has not been reunified since it divided into two parts as the results of the Second World War.

The letter demanded the present U.S. president do the following things in order to prevent a war in Korea and ensure peace on the peninsula.

He should start the peace process by replacing the 1953 Korean Armistice Agreement by binding peace treaty and thus putting an end to the Korean war.

The Korean peninsula has been exposed to nuclear weapons, etc. since 1950 and this threat has made the Koreans always uneasy.

The recent deployment of the THAAD in south Korea is increasing tensions in the north and the south and the neighboring countries.

Peace is the most powerful war deterrent.

The letter believes that only when the U.S. president will establish peace mechanism on the peninsula to take the measure for terminating the Korean war, can he bring lasting peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and in the region.
