Pyongyang, May 18 (KCNA) -- A spokesman of the Consultative Council for National Reconciliation issued a statement Thursday, 37 years since the Kwangju popular uprising in south Korea. The uprising was a popular armed uprising and a resistance for democracy against the U.S. and fascism in which the people stood against tyrannical forces in demand of independence and democracy of society and Korea's reunification against the colonial military fascist dictatorship by the U.S. and its stooges, the statement said, and went on: It is the unanimous wish of the Kwangju uprisers to end the U.S. imperialists' colonial rule that has lasted century after century and throw overboard the pro-U.S. traitorous forces. The south Koreans from all walks of life should wage courageous actions to eliminate the group of pro-U.S. fascists keen on sycophancy, treachery, dictatorship and murder with the same valiant fighting spirit with which they sentenced the Park Geun Hye group of traitors to shameful ruin by holding high the candlelight of justice. Murderers like traitor Chun Doo Hwan keen on covering up the truth of Kwangju massacre and prolonging their dirty remaining days have to be hanged, being judged by the people, and the remnants of Park Geun Hye making last-ditch efforts to prevent the wheel of history from rolling toward independence, democracy and reunification have to be definitely thrown overboard. Unless the U.S. colonial domination and rule are put to an end, the south Koreans' misfortune and pain will further and the desire wished by the Kwangju resistance fighters can never come true. The south Koreans should vigorously turn out in the nationwide sacred war to drive the U.S. imperialist aggressors out of south Korea and carve out their own destiny with their own efforts under the uplifted banner of independence against the U.S. South Koreans of all social standings including workers, peasants, youths and students have to hold higher the banner of independence, democracy and reunification that was held by the Kwangju resistance fighters and wage an unflinching struggle for independence against the U.S. and conservatives. |
