Care System for Children Established in DPRK
Pyongyang, May 24 (KCNA) -- A well-organized care system for children is established throughout the DPRK in which they are regarded as the kings of the country.

Kim Myong Chol, secretary of the Korean Association for Supporting the Children, told KCNA that in the DPRK children are left to the regular care of doctors at all hospitals, clinics, nurseries, kindergartens, schools and all-level hygienic and anti-epidemic centers.

Thanks to the care system, every child comes to have his or her own health record from birth and is provided with regular consultation and health checkup by district doctors, Kim said, and continued:

Children are also inoculated for epidemic diseases and get normal prophylactic treatment against rickets, TB, rheumatism and other diseases checking their growth.

And diverse activities have been carried out by the DPRK Red Cross Society and the Korean Association for Supporting the Children in cooperation with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, WHO and UNICEF to improve their health and nutrition.

The head of a delegation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies working in the DPRK expressed willingness to make positive contribution to promoting the health of children at an event held in Pyongyang on May 22 to mark the Child Health Day.
